I am a part-time neuroscience nurse. I spend the bulk of my time managing our household and taking care of our five kids, who are homeschooled. My fifth grade son is learning about the human body in science class this year. I was hoping to use this book for myself to sharpen my skills as a nurse and a teacher, as well as serve for stress relief. I have been coloring about 1/2-1 page in the evening after the kids are in bed while my spouse watches the news. Moving at a slower pace makes it easier to do it neatly and take time to go over the descriptions and really absorb the information.

I like the layout of the book, which walks you through the body in a logical way. The coloring notes are great because sometimes you don't know what they're getting at until you have colored half the picture, but then it makes sense why one thing was supposed to be a bold color while another part was grey. The pictures are well done and have great detail. On the page opposite each page of diagrams, there are descriptions of the functions and characteristics of the tissues/systems/etc.

The human body is so complex! This is a great review and reminds me of why I got into nursing in the first place. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the descriptions and the illustrations don't always match seamlessly, which makes it hard to follow at times. Sometimes a term used in the diagrams is not in the description. In particular, the page on cell division was difficult for me to decode. I feel like in order to clarify some of the descriptions I would have to drag out my old textbooks or go to Wiki.

I was pleased with the quality of the book.
