Leadership: Enhancing the Lessons of Experience, 7e consists of 16 chapters, four of which cover specific leadership skills and qualities covered in each of the book’s four sections. Hughes, Ginnett, and Curphy draw upon three different types of literature—empirical studies; interesting anecdotes, stories and findings; and leadership skills—to create a text that is personally relevant, interesting, and scholarly. The authors’ unique quest for a careful balancing act of leadership materials helps students apply theory and research to their real-life experiences. The Seventh Edition has been thoroughly updated in virtually every chapter.

This was a requirement for my MBA studies. I found the book very informative, well structured, very clear and to the point, with sufficient examples provided to explain the concepts. Leadership is a very broad and deep subject and the authors have managed to make the subject more interesting and engaging. I gained a lot of insight in my own leadership style and was able to identify points that need to be strengthened or revised in my own strategy. I recommend the book very much to all who are interested in leadership

Can a textbook be delightfully written? This one is. Authors Richard L. Hughes, Robert C. Ginnett, and Gordon J. Curphy explore every aspect of leadership and smoothly weave research conclusions into the narrative. Examples abound, from Colin Powell to Walt Disney. The authors are all psychologists who specialize in leadership issues. They have written conversationally and intelligently, using plenty of sidebar material (even famous cartoons) to bring their reporting to life. We [...] recommend this classic (now in its third edition) to everyone interested.
