Do the terms ad valorem, reverse repurchase agreement, and disintermediation give you a headache? Do you need to take
the Series 7 exam? If you can answer yes to both of these questions, then you ve come to the right place.
Robert Walker, a professional trainer who specializes in the FINRA/NASAA Series 63, 65/66, 6, and 7 exams, has written this book for those who are about to brave the Series 7 examination. Armed with an M.F.A. in writing and a B.A. in English, Walker has managed to translate Securities-ese into plain English, with a liberal dash of humor.
Completely restructured to reflect the organization of the new FINRA Series 7 outline, the fifth edition of this must-have book guides you through the exam s intricacies. Walker takes the exam apart piece by piece, and explains terms and concepts with a sense of humor and ease not found in other exam guides. He shows you, step-by-step, how not to be misled by the questions. In addition to practice questions liberally sprinkled throughout its lessons, Pass the 7 includes a full 250-question practice exam as well as a comprehensive glossary and index.
Once you ve finished this book, you will be able to take the test with confidence!

Three weeks ago, I passed the 7 with an 84. Three days ago, I passed the 66 with an 87. Explanation? Robert Walker's Pass the Test materials.
Coming from a "General Studies" background in college and merely part-time clerical work in the financial world, it would be difficult for me to consider myself "experienced" in the industry before sitting for the exam.
The PassPerfect materials provided by my firm, though somewhat helpful in the Equities and Debt Securities chapters, became quite horrifying during Options. After realizing how little I was retaining thanks to PassPerfect's incredibly discouraging practice exams (and crazed "owl" mascot), I went with Pass the Test, Inc. and never looked back.
Everything you've likely read concerning Mr. Walker's humor is spot-on; his narrative style is unabashed; and his audio lectures (as well as the online practice exams) are well worth any investment. As Mr. Walker repeatedly reminds his readers, any person's chances of passing the exam the first time are dependent on what he/she puts into it themselves. In my case, I read about 20 pages per day, completed all the practice questions as I came upon them, listened to the audio lectures during my work commute (15-20 mins each way), and completed each chapter's online practice exam as soon as I wrapped up the corresponding reading in the text.
When I finished the book, I completed the full practice exam at the end, and only one of the full practice exams online.
And that did it. Frankly, I felt like I was going to knock the 7 out of the park (i.e. pass it comfortably).
So! If you're looking for a down-to-earth, narrative-style test-prep format, with accompying audio lectures and online practice exams that are simple, yet effective, your search is over. Just scroll up to the top of the page and click "Add to Cart."
BAM. Problem solved.

Even if you are not going to take the series 7 this is the book to read to learn about financials. This should be required reading to graduate from high school. The book gives a concise and easy to read explanation of each of the subjects covered plus examples and "tricky" quizzes to make you think. Good for you Robert Walker! A tough subject made easier for the masses.
